Norwich by Night – Photography as the nights draw in…

The clocks go back this weekend, and this of course, means the evenings will be darker. This is perfect for our nightly walks around the city, peeking through windows and discovering the secrets of the city in darkness.

Norwich is an incredibly photogenic city by day, and that doesn’t change at night. Everything looks very different, but just as stunning.

Norwich Cathedral spire becomes pure gold as it glows against the night sky. Every angle and view brings something new to enjoy. I never get tired of photographing the cathedral, it is continually inspirational.

The Ethelbert Gate is always magnificent to walk through, stonework to marvel at.

It is easy to become obsessed with finding new views of the spire. It glows across the city from many viewpoints. This time I shot it up close and personal, but look out for more angles in future posts.

Norwich is famed for its multitude of religious buildings, and the next favourite church on my list is St Peter Mancroft in the centre of the city, directly opposite the Forum and beside Norwich Market. This time I shot it with a blue moon hovering just above.

Our river walk invariably takes us past Pulls Ferry with its magical golden archway reflected in the River Wensum. Norwich Cathedral spire in the background completes the fairytale.

Norwich Market with its colourful striped canopies. Another perfect place to find new angles.

This is the first in a series of new posts of my photography at night. Please subscribe to see new posts as they arrive.

As much as I love photography, I don’t do it just for love. The photographs above are all available to buy in a variety of print formats via my print on demand sites with worldwide delivery.
